It happened again. Cody Webb and Colton Haaker were so fast in the 6th stop of the EnduroCross season that they both lapped the rest of the field, including the third place finisher. The dynamic duo did the same thing in the prior round in Denver. The large and enthusiastic crowd in Everett Washington’s Xfinity Arena watched Webb hold off an aggressive Haaker to take the top podium spot.

With these two dueling it out for the 2016 championship, every point counts. After Haaker won the Hot Lap and garnered that important extra season point, Webb was even more motivated to win the final. “I knew I had to give it my all in the main and I came in really focused to not lose any more points,” Webb said, “Colton made a little mistake and I was able to get by early and he hung there on my tire most of the race. The good thing is I knew I didn’t make any mistakes all night, really. And in the main that mattered because I think I only made two little mistakes and Colton made more. It allowed me to open up the gap and cruise to victory. It’s a great feeling.” The KTM racer knows it will be a dogfight in the last two rounds of the season.

Haaker’s second place finish was the only blemish in a what was a remarkably fast weekend for the Husqvarna racer. He not only won his heat race and the Hot Lap, he also won the holeshot prize in the final. “I got the holeshot—had a great start—then on the second lap I had made a mistake and lost the front end and went off the track. Cody got by and I paced him for five or six laps until we started getting into some lappers. I got stuck behind one early that put me in a bad spot in the firewood. From there, I felt like I was riding well, but started to lose contact and struggled on the track.” Even with the second place finish in the final, Haaker still holds a 10 point lead in the series. He clearly has his eye on the big picture. “In the end I lost a few points but didn’t give up too much so it’s still a good night here in second,” Haaker said.

Despite being lapped by Webb and Haaker on the final lap of the main, third place finisher Ty Tremaine continued his ascent in the EnduroCross hierarchy. Earlier in the night he won his heat race for the second time in consecutive series stops. The podium finish in Washington is the first of his career.

Next up for the EnduroCross series is round 7 in the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa, ID on November 5. The final round will be staged over two days in the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA on November 18 and 19. The racing will be fast and furious with Haaker and Webb fighting tooth and nail for the 2016 championship. K&N is proud to sponsor the exciting and popular professional EnduroCross series.
