There are few racers whose names are more synonymous with rally, rally cross, Pikes Peak, drag racing, baja off-road and drifting than Rhys Millen and his racing team, logically named Rhys Millen Racing (RMR). Yet, many are unaware that long before Rhys Millen Racing started using K&N products on all of their race cars, the venerable racing team sold aftermarket K&N panel and sport air intakes to street customers.

When asked why K&N Filters, Rhys replied, "All these disciplines require maximum air flow for performance while requiring maximum engine filtration protection. In all my years if competition I have never had an engine failure due to poor filtration." And none could be more important than at America's second-oldest motor sports race, the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Rhys and his team returned to the mountain to defend its 2012 record in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) of 9:46.164.

"Being exposed to the performance advantages that were witnessed as we installed these products on a variety of cars," Rhys continued, "It was no question that K&N was the right choice for our race cars." This time around, six-time champion, and RMR team member, Paul Dallenbach will drive Millen's Hyundai Genesis Coupe that set the all-time record last year.

Unlike all the previous years Hyundai has competed at the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, the manufacturer will have two cars; the production-based Genesis Coupe that set last years' all-time record to the peak piloted by Pikes Peak veteran star Dallenbach from Basalt, Colorado, who has won six times previous in the Open Wheel division, as Millen will be piloting a new, purpose-built unlimited class rear-drive racecar in the Unlimited division, which now has 11 entries.

"We're certainly proud to renew our successful partnership with Rhys Millen Racing to take on the unique challenge of international motorsports known as Pikes Peak," voiced Steve Shannon, vice president, marketing, Hyundai Motor America. "Last year's all-time world record, set by Millen in the production-based Genesis Coupe, was a defining milestone in Hyundai's quest to build thrilling and durable rear-drive performance vehicles that are as capable on the road as they are in the rigors of competitive motorsport.
