In 2011 Kawasaki unveiled the newest edition of the ZX10R, a beautiful member to the world of super bikes. The 2011 ZX10 is a little bit different than green machines of the past, while they have always been "super" bikes they have not boasted HP that is at the top of their class for a long time. With the release of the 200 HP BMW 1000rr Japanese manufactures have been forced to play catch up.

Kawasaki has answered the Germans with thier new ZX.  It matches the BMW's HP and it shaves off about 12 pounds giving the green machine a better power to weight ratio. It has a totally different chassis than previous years and a traction control system programmed for speed rather than safety. This bike was born out of speed.

It would be great even if the benefits of this bike stopped here but they only get better. Kawasaki has always had a knack for making space like ram air systems that truly ram air. The Kawasaki's have a mouth for air as far forward on the bike as you can get.

When the bike slices through the air a large dose of air is funneled between the head lights and straight into the engine. This method of intake has been known to increase HP quite a bit but if you have a restrictive air filter you are blocking a lot of this surplus air from ever entering your engine. K&N has the answer to this problem with the release of the KA-1011 and KA-1011R. These filters fit the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 Kawasaki ZX10R Ninja helping it achieve additional performance. They simply drop in to replace the factory filter and come with an embossed K&N logo on the molding. Both air filters are washable and reusable.  The KA-1011 is a replacement motorcycle air filter for the OEM filter.  It comes with a million mile limited warranty. This K&N filter provides outstanding filtration while allowing superior air flow, something that this big bore motorcycle craves especially at high RPMs. The KA-1011 filter is ideal for street use where dirt and debris are ever present.

The KA-1011R also fits the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 Kawasaki ZX10R Ninja motorcycle, but is recommended for racing use only. The filter has less pleating to provide even less restriction giving the racer an additional edge.  With this racing air filter, tuning may be required to get the bike in sync with the increase in airflow. The KA-1011R racing air filter comes with a one year limited warranty.

K&N has produced a cold air intake system (69-4521TS) for the 2011 to 2016 Chevy Cruze 1.4L turbo that unleashes an estimated 6.49 horsepower at 5000 rpm. This increase of power is possible by removing the restrictive factory air box of the Chevy Cruze, and replacing it with K&N's mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube and high-flow, performance air filter (RU-5147).

The RU-5147 is a washable, reusable air filter that provides outstanding engine protection. It can go for up to 100,000 miles before needing to be serviced depending on driving conditions.

The 69-4521TS air intake system is guaranteed to increase the horsepower of your 2011 to 2016 Chevy Cruze with the 1.4 liter turbo engine. Detailed installation instructions take you step by step through the install process. Adding power to the 2011 to 2016 Chevy Cruze 1.4L turbo has never been easier.

K&N's 2011 to 2016 Chevy Cruze 1.4L air intake system 69-4521TS includes a heat shield that allows cooler air into the engine by isolating the filter from the hot engine air. The heat shield is placed directly above the OEM fresh air duct so cooler outside air can easily enter the engine.

K&N's 69-4521TS air intake system was designed to last for the life of your vehicle and it comes with a million mile limited warranty.

K&N's video 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Vauxhall Astra MK6 & Opel Astra J 1.4L Turbo and 2011 to 2016 Chevy Cruze 1.4L Air Intake Installation will show you just how easy it is to add power and performance to your Astra MK6, Astra J or Chevy Cruze with the 1.4L engine.

K&N's Luke Bogacki Does It Again; 2nd NHRA Super Comp Wally at Beech Bend Divisional

Back to defend his 2010 Super Comp title, standout racer Luke Bogacki did so with ease during the NHRA Lucas Oil Division 3 event at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. In a dragster that he has only raced three times during the 2011 season, Bogacki whipped his way through six tough rounds to put his 2010 ThisisBracketRacing.com/K&N American Dragster into the Super Comp Winner's Circle at Beech Bend for the second consecutive year.

"We haven't done much NHRA racing this season, but I love Bowling Green and it's close to home, so this race has been on the schedule all year," explained Bogacki. "It's really cool to be able to win it again. I haven't had a great year on the track, and it's always rewarding to win in a class that's as competitive as the 8.90 category."

First Bogacki would be randomly paired with Mike Fuqua in round one, where he would begin his outstanding string of stellar reaction times and send Fuqua out very early. Round two, Bogacki tightened up his box even more for a .004 light to also sending Waco, Texas resident, Trisha Allen to her premature departure. Now on the ladder, Bogacki's next competitor would be Tim Garrison. Making sure he didn't go red, Bogacki backed off ever-so-slightly from the tree and posted a comfortable .018 to Garrison's much slower .037 and almost effortlessly, backed into him for a holeshot 8.926 to 8.911 win.

It would be the rounds to come where Bogacki felt he had some of that needed luck on his side. First came in the quarter-finals against recent Division 3 JEGS All-Stars representative Michael Shelton. "He made a run that I would take any day of the week in Super Comp," admitted Bogacki. "He posted an excellent .005 reaction time and was 8.911. It just so happens that I made one of my better runs of the day. I was .011 on the tree and got there by .002 for an 8.903. It was just one of those rounds where I was able to do a really good job when I had to."

"I felt like I got my really lucky break in the semi's," professed Bogacki. "I ran Jeff Mandell and I felt like we had left together, I was .014 and he was .008. My intention going down the race track was to get there first. For whatever reason, right at the last second I just felt like there wasn't enough room, so even though I had whomped it a couple of times, I stood on the brake. I got back behind, but it was only by .009. That's usually not a good place to be, but it just happened to work out. He had me .006 and was .003 further under [8.90 Index] than I was. Usually that indecision on my part will cost me the round. It just so happened that it worked out for me that time."

"It's almost unheard of to be flawless for 6-8 straight rounds. You have to get a break when you make a mistake," he added. "Plus, usually you have to beat at least one great run in the other lane. It's all a matter of good fortune and timing really, and today it just fell into place."

In a tightly competitive class, such as Super Comp, it takes a driver on their game in addition to a car they can trust will run what they've set it up for. "The car was really good," he noted. "That combination has always been really good on the throttle stop. But I was a little bit confused all the way up to the semi-finals and this sounds bad, but I didn't have a close enough race up until the quarter-finals. Basically, I never got to the thousand foot mark under full power. So I didn't have any run completion numbers to work off of. I had a pretty good idea of what it would go, but without the true thousand foot mark time, I couldn't verify it in those early rounds."

In the final, Bogacki paired up with Tyler Caheely and even though he posted a stout .010 light, he didn't need it as the race was over nearly the moment the tree came down. Caheely handed Bogacki the NHRA Super Comp Division Wally by going red.

"I want to thank my mother Ellen and my fiancée Jessica," he said after his win. "They were both at the event, and that made the win really special. The Jones family does an excellent job with their facility and of course, all the guys at K&N. I have the first generation K&N Composite scoop on this dragster along with using K&N Wrench-off oil filters on all my cars. It really makes a difference in the quality of products you use, if you expect to be consistent and win you have to have nothing but the best going in."

Terry McCarl Drives Friends Back-up Car At Huset's Speedway and Walks Away Victorious

Srpint car driver, Terry McCarl, recently traeled to Huset's Speedway to supports his son, Austin, who was scheduled to race. When a friend requested McCarl drive his back-up car, the driver accepted and won the feature.
Longtime sprint car driver, Terry McCarl, recently arrived at Huset's Speedway, at Brandon, South Dakota, with intentions of supporting his eighteen-year-old son, Austin, who was scheduled to race on that particular night.
Terry McCarl's expereince recently lent to his ability to get into a racecar that he is not accustomed to driving and earn the checkered flag.
Terry McCarl's expereince recently lent to his ability to get into a racecar that he is not accustomed to driving and earn the checkered flag.

As fate would have it, all plans were changed when his best friend, Lynton Jeffrey, asked McCarl to man his back up car in the 410 Outlaw Sprint cars. Within no time, the driver had recruited friend, Justin Boese, as his crew chief, and was lining up to compete in his heat. When asked if he were surprised when Jeffrey asked him to drive, McCarl stated, "It wasn't a surprise, he's my best friend, but it was really nice of him to ask me to do it."

"We did it at the last moment, and you're getting into someone else's car. It's not your seat and it's not your pedals. You know, you kind of get a feeling for your car, and other people's cars kind of feel strange to you at first. His car felt really good right off the bat, with the Eagle Chassis, and was really fast. It was kind of a fairytale story with a happy ending."

When asked if he must get mentally prepared for a race, the driver said, "No not really. That's what I do and I've been driving for a long time. Huset's is a track that I know well. Once I get in the car, I'm pretty well ready to go."

Finishing fifth in his heat, McCarl lined up third in the feature even better acquainted with Jeffrey's car. "When the waving of the green flag deemed the 35 lap event underway, McCarl found himself in a four car battle for the first thirty three laps. In third place with only two laps to go, the driver made his move, taking the lead. "It was one heck of a race," explained McCarl. "It was a four car battle; weaving in and out of traffic, banging the fence and banging into each other. You could have thrown a blanket over the four of us throughout the whole race. It was a great race for the fans."

Once taking the lead, Terry McCarl continued to pull away from the other drivers and lead by six car lengths upon taking the checkered flag. "It was a huge win for me, because I've been having a bit of a difficult year" explained the driver. "Again, it was kind of like a fairytale story. It was at the last moment, we got there kind of late, and it wasn't my car. For me, personally as a driver, confidence wise, it wouldn't be below a ten."

Of course, as do all race car drivers, Terry McCarl and Lynton Jeffrey more than likely don't agree on everything, as that's one of the draws of the sport making it interesting and fun to follow. That said though, Jeffrey and McCarl obviously do see eye to eye on the importance and performance of K&N products.

When asked if K&N products could be partly credited for his win, the driver said, "You've got to give some credit to K&N for all of my wins, because of the performance of my engines. Not only for just my wins," he continued. "Throughout my career I have been known to be a very good qualifier and very fast with great engines. I've had very few engine failures, knock on wood, throughout my entire career, and I think you definitely can attribute a lot of that to K&N filters."

Of course, as a veteran driver, Terry McCarl understands the importance of his sponsors and fans. When asked if there was a message that he would like to relay to them, referring to T-Mac Motorsports Inc. the driver said, "Keep following us. Both of my sons are really coming on strong, and we're building our team to be a contender. I look for our team during the rest of the season to be strong and be contenders everywhere we go, and next season will be even better."

Racing is, in every sense of the word, a family business. Even if the family isn't directly involved, they are indirectly affected by the weekly grind of a racing season. Some families, however, choose to embrace racing, and make it an integral part of their livelihood. The Faccinto family fits into that category.

Brothers Michael and Mitchell Faccinto are both enjoying career seasons in 600 Micro Sprints on the West Coast. Both drivers have captured feature victories, and both have made headlines with major event wins. For older brother Michael, the Clay Cup Nationals in Washington proved to be the marquee race of the season.

In 600 Micro Sprint racing, no race on the West Coast is bigger than the Clay Cup Nationals. Michael entered the event in Davey Key's car, and over the course of three days, showed consistency and skill while, eventually dominating the feature race on his way to claiming the $7,500 prize.

"2011 has been a year I'll never forget," Michael said. "We started the year winning the King of California series, the Budweiser Outlaw Nationals and we have maintained the points lead at Plaza Park Raceway."

Indeed, it has been a dominating year for Michael. But younger brother Mitchell is enjoying his share of success as well. He remains in the points chase, thanks to a string of consistent finishes, and on Memorial Day, Mitchell won the Palace Nationals, an event he called "the best moment of the year for me."

Mitchell also said that motivation "is never an issue" when racing his brother, because the level of competition at their home tracks is so high. Michael captured a championship in 2010, beating those tough competitors, along with his brother.

The two enjoy a strong relationship. Michael said he has never been upset with his brother on the track, but instead called him "my toughest competitor."

"At the end of the day, he's still my little brother," Michael added.

The Faccinto's credited their change to Pace Chassis' and Seros Racing Engines for their overall team improvement in 2011.

The two plan to continue their pursuit of another 600 Micro Sprints championship this season, and K&N Filters is a big reason for it.

"K&N Filters are vital to our team's success," Michael said. "We count on K&N to keep both our motor oil and our air clean and to improve flow and increase horsepower."
